Created to represent the King

Humanity’s first vocation was larger than private spirituality. Male and female were made in God’s image to live in His presence and exercise faithful authority within His creation.

Dominion without domination

Biblical dominion is a sacred trust, not ownership without limits. The earth belongs to the Lord. Humanity receives responsibility to cultivate what belongs to Him, extend fruitful order and reflect the character of the King. Authority becomes corrupt when it separates power from service, truth, holiness and accountability.

Eden as sanctuary

The garden is more than scenery. Its imagery anticipates tabernacle and temple: sacred presence, eastward entrance, cherubim, precious stones, river and tree of life. Adam’s commission to serve and guard carries priestly resonance. Eden is the first meeting place of heaven and earth.

The calling was damaged, not abandoned

Exile closes access to sacred space; the image is corrupted and death becomes tyrant. Yet God does not abandon His purpose for humanity. Yeshua, the Last Adam and true image, restores the human vocation. In Him a living temple and royal priesthood begin to take shape.

The end of Scripture confirms the beginning. The river and tree of life appear again in the New Jerusalem, the curse is removed, and the servants of God serve, see His face and reign. The garden becomes a city filled with faithful image-bearers.

Key ScriptureGenesis 1:26-28 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”  27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
